Akosua Afriyie Osei-Appaw

Akosua is a Photographer by passion and a Regional Development Planner by profession. She mentors children and the youth in her community and beyond to cultivate their passion and talents into desired careers especially in the creative arts. She also encourages the youth to read African literature by establishing reading clubs in basic schools and donating African authored books through her organization ‘Dare 2 Dream Ghana’. She volunteers with local organizations who specialize in empowering and providing leadership skills to the youth.

She has two Master’s degrees in Population Studies from University of Ghana and in Regional Development Planning and Management from Technical University of Dortmund and Universidad Austral de Chile. As a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow, a flagship program of former President Barack Obama, she worked with another arts education organization from South Africa , CREATE,  and collaborated with the US Department of State to put together an arts education curriculum outline with the help of a New York based organization, Soul Science Lab. Currently, Dare 2 Dream Ghana is collaborating with other Mandela Washington Fellows from South, Central and West Africa to create an outline platform for learning and skills sharing to augment the deficits in the educational system of the various countries involved.

Akosua Afriyie currently works at Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons as a Project Coordinator for the Paediatric Fracture Solutions for Ghana Project, the first of its kind in Africa.
